October 2023 More flooding

With heavy rain over a wide area and high tides the River Tay was very full. Sadly for some reason the flood gate on the North Inch was not shut and so the sports facilities and many houses were flooded.

October 2023 floods

On 7/8th October we had heavy persistent rain in Perth. New streams appeared and the normally trickling Craigie burn overflowed and flooded adjacent properties.

The green and gold of late summer starts to give way to falling leaves and autumn colour.

July 2023

The lush growth of spring gives way to flowers, fruit, seed heads and baby birds appear. Unusually sea gulls have started breeding in Perth which is 20 miles inland.

In the middle of January we had a few days of remarkably clear atmospheric conditions. The snow clad mountains of the highlands to the west and north of Perth looked close enough to touch!

November 2022

It was dry for fireworks night but there was so much moisture in the air that the fireworks generated their own clouds which kept obscuring the lights! I have never seen that happen before.

September 2022 – floods!

On 8th September it rained heavily in Perth for three hours. I had never seen such rain. In the afternoon and the next day we went out for walks and saw the damage that had been caused. Small streams had turned into raging torrents and washed their surroundings away. Cars had been swept down roads, driveways destroyed. Nobody was hurt but the damage will take time to repair and enlarged channels are needed for some of the streams.

Craigie Chimney Pots

The skies have been blue grey recently which contrasts nicely with the terracotta and biscuit colours of chimney stacks in Perth. These photos are of just some of the chimneys in one street in the Craigie area of Perth. They are all different!
