I try to visit Edinburgh at least once during the festival. The streets are full of characters and fun.
For once we had a sunrise on the first of January!
This year I chose to observe Perth’s annual charity fireworks display from Smeatons’s Bridge over the Tay. The action appeared above St John’s Kirk.
At the beginning of December the moon was unusually close to the Earth and looked very large – when it could be seen for cloud. My best attempt at photoing it was early in the morning of 4th December.
This year’s fireworks were set off from a new location in the middle of the South Inch. They really were rockets being launched, especially in the finale.
At the beginning of July we went on the first available commercial boat trip along the Tay from the Fergusson Pontoon to Willowgate. The power of the River was much more evident when on the water and we had some new views of the Friarton Bridge.
At the end of February I went to see the spring flowers in Braco Castle Gardens, participants in this year’s snowdrop festival. The flowers were nice, as were the stylish bare trees, but a lively red squirrel stole the show!
Santa visited Dunkeld on 10th December on a wooden sledge pulled by reindeer. I wonder what they thought of the proceedings!
There was a clear, cool night for the annual Perth and Strathearn Round Table firework display. As ever it was spectacular, and the free hot chocolate was much appreciated in the bitter north wind.
