Abraham Lake is an artificial lake on the North Saskatchewan River in western Alberta. It was named after Silas Abraham, an inhabitant of the Saskatchewan River valley in the ninteenth century. Though man-made, it has the blue colour of other glacial lakes due to rock flour in the water. In winter the ice traps methane gas bubbles from decaying plants on the lake bed and the lake has become a photographic phenomenon because of this.
