We spent a wet but enjoyable week in Kilmartin Glen where removal of peat to improve the land for agriculture revealed many, many ancient monuments.
In the middle of January we had a few days of remarkably clear atmospheric conditions. The snow clad mountains of the highlands to the west and north of Perth looked close enough to touch!
October continued the trend of wet weather with much mist and cloud forming on the hills. Autumn colours developed and there were bursts of sunshine.
We had the good fortune to visit Kilbryde Castle Gardens and see their abundant snowdrops.
We had a lovely walk through fields by the Tay at Newburgh on a beautiful blue sky day. It looked good enough to swim but was just above freezing!
Finally there was some snow in Scotland so on 5th January after consulting webcams and weather forecasts we set off to Glencoe. We found a little snow and saw a lovely sunset on the way home.
We finally went to visit Drumderg wind farm which we see from the top of the hill in our local park in Perth. It was a day of glorious blue skies with the snow clad high peaks gleaming in the background. Nice to see cattle on the farm too.
A month of few sunny days, but when there was sun we got out and about to Loch Fascally, Cloan Glen, the Firth of Forth and Drumpellier Country Park.
We had a glorious week in Glen Affric, home of the most complete Caledonian Pine forest in Scotland. The twelve mile walk round the loch was tiring but well worth the effort.
A cottage holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. So much to see!
