My first visit to the arctic was to Tromso in 2011. I was delighted by the gentle clarity of the light and the stillness of the water. There were wonderful reflections and a striking built environment alongside nature: colourful wooden houses, wild flowers, the arctic cathedral, modern hotels looking like ships and the graceful bridge. A memorable place.
