Just two days after all the firework night displays nature provided its own fireworks in Perth. The aurora forecast was high and we set out around 10pm to the old Roman road on the Gask Ridge, a place about 5 miles from Perth with a clear view to the north. At first a faint green glow was visible then for about 5 minutes the sky lit up with ever shifting patterns. It was silent, much more gentle than fireworks and much more magical.
