The Queen’s platinum jubilee weekend was an unusual event and on 2nd June we went to see the lighting of the jubilee beacon by the river Tay. It was a peaceful, tranquil evening with low key ceremony.

Craigie Chimney Pots

The skies have been blue grey recently which contrasts nicely with the terracotta and biscuit colours of chimney stacks in Perth. These photos are of just some of the chimneys in one street in the Craigie area of Perth. They are all different!

Glenearn Road Cherry Tree Blossom

In the past lots of cherry blossom trees have been planted in the Glenearn Road area of Perth. They come into bloom in late April and for a short few days are glorious – but difficult to photograph as they are surrounded by cars, buildings and road signs! They have done well this year.

April 2021

April was a month of bright blue skies, clouds, showers and rainbows. Buds and blossoms bloomed. We particularly enjoyed walks by the River Tay as we could see through the bare tree branches to the river banks.

March 2021

March was a cold month with some dramatic skies but gradually the vegetation got greener and blossoms appeared.

Perth in powder snow

In the middle of February we had a cold spell and 15 centimetres of snow, unusually feather light powder snow, which covered everything. Then the weather remained freezing and still so the delicate decoration remained for a couple of days. Perth looked so picturesque bathed in gentle winter sunshine.

November 2020

Autumn continued, the first snows appeared on the mountains, geese flew south but the land remained green – the greenest November I can remember.

October brought vivid autumn colours and at the end of the month a spectacular sunrise.
